Deeply Talks : World Breastfeeding Week

August 07, 2018 | 11:00AM EDT
The Trump administration’s effort to undercut guidelines designed to encourage exclusive breastfeeding at the recent World Health Assembly triggered a significant backlash.  To conclude this year’s World Breastfeeding Week, we’ll be hosting a Deeply Talk on Tuesday, August 7 to look beyond politics, and to understand the challenges on both an international and national level to encouraging exclusive breastfeeding. For our discussion, we’ll be joined by Stasha Jordan, the executive director and founder of South African Breastmilk Reserve, a nonprofit that provides education on breastfeeding, as well as human-milk banking services and by Kathleen Pellechia, a nutrition knowledge management specialist at Alive & Thrive, an initiative from FHI360 that focuses on maternal and child health globally. Join us on Wednesday, August 7 at 11 a.m. ET for a 30-minute conversation with Stasha and Kathleen. The discussion will be moderated by Andrew Green, Malnutrition Deeply’s managing editor. You can RSVP for the talk by clicking the button below. We’d love to use your questions about challenges to breastfeeding on both a local and international level. If you’d like to submit any queries ahead of time, email them to our community editor, Amruta Byatnal (, or tweet us @NDMalnutrition using #DeeplyTalks.
