The Job of Protecting the Arctic
Who is supposed to protect the Arctic? The 4 million people who live north of the Arctic Circle can’t regulate the whole area themselves. There is debate over whether coastal Arctic states alone should be able to permit or refuse fishing, or oil and gas extraction.
